Sa Cova d’en Xoroi
Just a few minutes away from Torralbenc, we drive to the south of the island, to an impressive natural space located in a beautiful cliff on the coast. Steeped in mythology, this cavern opened from Tuesday to Sunday from 3:00 p.m.
Enjoying a unique sunset with a selection of cocktails and ambient music, or even later in the evening at its renowned nightclub.
But Sa Cova d’en Xoroi is much more than that. Its rocks, scented by the sea air, guard with their imposing beauty the legend of a love story. The legend starts with Xoroi, a man from an unknown past, who came to Menorca from the sea and found refuge in the cave. Nobody knows how he arrived, perhaps he was the sole survivor of a shipwreck.
During this time, the surrounding houses in the countryside were often robbed. From one of these houses, a young woman disappeared. Months and years went by and nothing more was known of the missing girl. One day in winter, the island was blanketed by unexpected snow.
In the snow, telltale footprints appeared. Armed men followed the tracks down to the cave, where they found Xoroi, the young woman and their three children. Seeing himself surrounded and powerless, Xoroi threw himself into the water. The sea that had brought him closed over him, guarding the mystery of his life.
