Adrenaline over water in Menorca.
Of all the summer activities that can be practised on the water, water skiing is possibly one of the favourites of active people with a desire for adrenaline and physical exercise. This sport was born in 1922, in Minnesota, by Ralph Samuelson but it was not until 50 years later, at the 1972 Munich Olympics, that it was presented as a competitive sport.
Born on Lake Pepin, USA, water skiing later began to be practised at sea also. It is a mixture of skiing and surfing and has several versions that include the use of skis (the original way), a board (Wakesurf and Wakeboard), or there are even those who practice it barefoot … all holding onto a rope while being towed by a speedboat.
The turquoise waters of Menorca have for years been ideal for different types of water skiing, especially in the hottest months when the sea is more appealing than ever and people are looking for a fun and highly physical activity on the water. In many coves of the island, there are various companies that offer this type of entertainment for both experienced people and those who want to try for the first time with the guidance of multilingual teachers.
During the summer months, it is not uncommon to see people of all ages discovering how fun water skiing can be, including professionals spinning in the air on their boards.
